INTR 3501 Materials and Methods I 3.0 Credits
This course introduces fundamental construction materials, methods, and processes that shape built environments. Through lectures, research, and hands-on exploration, students investigate the sensory and technical properties of materials such as wood, steel, concrete, masonry, metal, glass, textiles, and tile. Exercises include identifying and documenting materials in the built environment and composing material palettes that communicate aesthetic, sustainability considerations and performative intent. Emphasis is placed on the understanding of material properties, applications, and expressive potential.
