INTR 5502 Materials and Methods II 3.0 Credits

This graduate-level course explores how materials come together in systematic assemblies. Students study, draw, and construct systems of walls, floors, ceilings, and millwork, investigating both traditional and contemporary construction methods. Topics include cabinetry, acoustic and lighting integration, green wall systems, and sustainable material strategies. Through lectures, case studies, and field observation, students learn to “read” built details, analyze their performance, and measure or document them accurately. Students prepare detailed technical drawings that communicate design intent, material relationships, and construction sequences. The course bridges construction documentation and fabrication through the language of detailing.
