Students form a team and face the challenge of developing a real-world product, where each team applies a data science approach to actual situations for real-world decision making. Each team is required to come up with a strategy that meets a business, social, scientific, or organizational value, and in the course, perform an exploratory data analysis that motivates their development of a data science model, before developing a model, evaluating its results, and communicating its performance and effectiveness to an invested audience.
