IS 4524 Intelligent Search and Language Models 3.0 Credits
This course introduces the core concepts and architectures of search systems, focusing on the representation, indexing, and retrieval of textual information. Students study fundamental information retrieval models, document representation techniques, query formulation, and ranking algorithms. The course also introduces neural representations of text and the role of language models in retrieval-oriented tasks, emphasizing conceptual understanding rather than implementation depth.
