IS 6450 User Modeling and Recommender Systems 3.0 Credits

Application-oriented course on recommending information, products, and other items. Covers predictive modeling of user and customer behavior and/or preference to support recommendation and other forms of personalized information and commerce systems. Studies fundamental and practical aspects of recommendation and personalization, including data, users, and content models; algorithms and statistical models; applications of machine learning; evaluation of recommendation and information access; user interactions; social impacts; and research designs for organizational or scientific understanding of users, content, and systems. Lectures and assignments include examples across multiple applications and recommendation domains, including both information-oriented systems and e-commerce settings.
