IS 6720 User Experience Research Methods 3.0 Credits
This course introduces common user experience (UX) research methods that UX professionals use to inform, generate, and evaluate design ideas. Students will learn about a range of research methods, including interviews, field studies, focus groups, card sorting, and surveys, to understand users’ needs, preferences, and experiences with computing systems. Students will learn about the various data collection techniques and how to employ analytical techniques such as A/B testing and statistical methods to prepare them to design and run large-scale user experiments that inform design decisions. Students will also be introduced to task analysis techniques for gathering design information; formative and summative usability testing; and project planning and report writing.
