IS 8325 Foundations of Data Science Research 3.0 Credits
Builds core foundations for graduate-level research practice in data science (DS) by introducing students to the landscape of DS research through structured literature review, critical reading, and guided research-reproduction exercises. Students gain familiarity with major research methodologies, theoretical frameworks, and emerging trends in the field. The course emphasizes critiquing academic papers, reproducibility, and open-science practices, and examines how influential and student-selected works align with the norms and reviewing standards of DS publication venues.
