LAW 767S Information Privacy Law 3.0 Credits
What are the laws protecting the privacy of your information, your body, your beliefs, and the other most intimate parts of your life? Their relevance and efficacy has been questioned from the invention of the punch card computer to the Cambridge Analytica revelations⎯and with good reason. This course will explore those legal institutions, protections, and norms, including tort law, consumer protections, surveillance safeguards, and the interplay of state, federal, and international privacy regulations. The purpose of the course is to provide a foundation for both law students who are considering tech-focused careers and those who have no concerted interest in technology being a key professional focus.
