LLPO 6110 Foundations of U.S. Education Policy and Competitiveness 3.0 Credits
This course introduces the U.S. education policy landscape by examining how policy is developed, who shapes it, and how economic and global forces influence reform. Students analyze the roles of federal, state, and local agencies, major policy actors, and the historical foundations of the education system. Through study of innovation, accountability, and workforce preparation, the course explores how competitiveness has shaped K–12 and higher education policy. Students engage in policy analysis, review briefs, and examine key policy texts to build the skills needed to interpret and evaluate education policy in complex political and economic contexts.
