LLPO 6130 Global Trends, Public Interests, and the Politics of U.S. Education Policy 3.0 Credits
This course examines how U.S. education policy is developed, negotiated, and implemented across local, state, and federal levels, with emphasis on leaders’ ethical responsibilities to advance access, equity, and justice. Students explore the evolution of major policies, the roles of policymakers and institutions, and the influence of historical and contemporary narratives, including those tied to global competitiveness. Through analysis of policy texts, debates, and key thinkers, students assess how reforms emerge, whom they benefit or marginalize, and how leaders can intervene. The course builds analytical and critical policy skills needed to navigate and influence complex education policy environments.
