LSTU 5552 Ethics and Professional Standards 3.0 Credits
Examines ethical theory and professional standards in decision-making. The course develops an understanding of the ethical implications of professional practice, including how to recognize and address competing ethical obligations. Students analyze moral frameworks including consequentialism, deontology, virtue and care ethics, and debates over relativism and absolutism. Students use these frameworks to evaluate workplace and governance dilemmas involving fiduciary duties, management responsibilities, corporate social responsibility, and selected emerging issues in professional practice. Learning occurs asynchronously online through faculty-moderated discussions, written analyses with citations, quizzes, and exams. Familiarity with and experience in professional and organizational settings is helpful.
