LSTU 5570 Health Care Fraud: Regulation, Investigation, and Enforcement 3.0 Credits

This course explores why health care fraud remains a major challenge and prepares students to understand and address its impact on consumers, providers, and public and private payers. Students will learn the criminal, civil, and administrative frameworks governing health care, examine how fraud is detected and investigated, and assess the limits of current enforcement tools. Through practical analysis of real‑world scenarios, including areas such as elder abuse and the opioid epidemic, students will apply investigative and regulatory concepts. Through case analysis and problem‑solving exercises, students will develop foundational skills essential to advanced study.
