LSTU 6631 Criminal Law 3.0 Credits

This course introduces students to the core principles that shape liability for criminal conduct. Students will study theories of punishment; required acts and mental states; and major defenses, justifications, and excuses. The course covers a wide range of offenses, including homicide, assault, battery, sex offenses, theft, robbery, burglary, arson, and inchoate offenses. Through case analysis and problem‑solving exercises, students will develop foundational skills essential to advanced study. This course has no formal prerequisites, but familiarity with basic legal reasoning and writing is key to student success.
