MATH 6801 Probability Theory I 3.0 Credits
Develops the foundations of modern probability theory from a measure-theoretic perspective. Topics include probability spaces and random variables, distributions and expectation, independence, Borel-Cantelli lemmas, zero-one laws, modes of convergence, laws of large numbers, characteristic functions, and the central limit theorem. Emphasis is placed on rigorous probabilistic reasoning and tools used throughout statistics, stochastic processes, and applied probability.
