MEM 2410 Statics 3.0 Credits

Statics introduces the principles used to analyze engineering systems in equilibrium. Students learn to represent forces and moments using vectors and to construct clear free‑body diagrams for particles, rigid bodies, and structures. Topics include equilibrium in two and three dimensions, support reactions, trusses, frames and machines, internal forces, friction, distributed loads, and geometric properties of areas such as centroids and moments of inertia. Emphasis is placed on problem formulation, idealization of physical systems, and interpreting results in the context of engineering design.
