MEM 3320 Fluid Mechanics 4.0 Credits
This course introduces the fundamental principles governing the behavior of fluids at rest and in motion. Students develop the ability to analyze engineering systems involving fluid statics and dynamics. Topics include fluid properties; pressure fields and forces on submerged surfaces; kinematics of flow; Bernoulli’s equation; control‑volume analysis of mass, momentum, and energy; the Navier–Stokes equations and selected viscous‑flow solutions; internal flows in pipes, including laminar–turbulent regimes and head‑loss correlations; and external flows, boundary layers, separation, and drag. The course concludes with an introduction to computational methods for modeling fluid flow.
Repeat Status: Not repeatable for credit
