MEM 3520 Systems Dynamics and Vibrations 3.0 Credits

This course introduces the modeling and dynamic analysis of mechanical, electrical, electromechanical, fluid, and pneumatic systems. Topics include gear and pulley dynamics, mechanical vibrations, system linearization, transfer‑function development, and block‑diagram manipulation. Students learn classical and modern analysis techniques, including the Routh stability criterion, frequency‑domain methods, and time‑domain response. The course also presents state‑space modeling, with emphasis on controllability and observability for engineering system design.
