MEM 4330 Thermal Systems Design 3.0 Credits
This course introduces the fundamentals of thermal systems and the role of design within engineering practice, with emphasis on economic evaluation and sustainability. Students explore advanced heat‑ and mass‑transfer applications, including heat exchangers and distillation equipment, and develop models of thermal components and integrated systems. Topics include system simulation, sustainable energy technologies, and foundational optimization methods such as successive substitutions and Lagrange multipliers. The course culminates in the design and analysis of optimized, sustainable thermal systems through hands‑on projects.
Repeat Status: Not repeatable for credit
Prerequisites: MEM 3330 [Min Grade: D] or MEM 345 [Min Grade: D]
