MEM 4441 Aerospace Materials 3.0 Credits
This course examines material selection and performance for aerospace applications, where weight constraints and extreme operating conditions create unique engineering challenges. Students will study metals, polymers, ceramics, and composites, focusing on their mechanical and thermal properties, behavior under high temperatures, cryogenic environments, radiation exposure, and fatigue loading. Material characterization, testing methods, failure methods, and design considerations will be covered through analysis of real-world aerospace case studies.
Repeat Status: Not repeatable for credit
Prerequisites: MEM 2420 [Min Grade: D] or MEM 330 [Min Grade: D]
