MEM 4540 Aircraft Flight Dynamics and Control 3.0 Credits
This course introduces the equations of motion for aircraft and the linearization methods used to analyze their dynamic behavior. Students apply small‑disturbance theory and modal analysis to characterize longitudinal open‑loop response. The course reviews essential elements of classical control, followed by state‑space modeling and analysis of flight‑control systems. Autopilot design methods—including classical approaches, pole‑placement techniques, and optimal control—are explored to provide a foundation for modern flight‑dynamics and control applications.
