MEM 6081 Finite Element Methods 3.0 Credits

This course introduces the formulation and application of finite element methods for linear analysis of static and dynamic problems in solids, structures, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and related field phenomena. Topics include displacement‑based, hybrid, and stress‑based formulations; variational and weighted‑residual approaches; element interpolation and numerical integration; and efficient solution strategies for finite element equations. Pre-processing and post‑processing practices are emphasized along with interpretation of results for engineering decision-making.
