MIIM 520S Science Communication and Outreach 2.0 Credits

This course is a community-based learning course and combines in-class lectures and discussions with fieldwork. The priorities of the course are two-fold. First, to improve science communication skills with the public and secondly to address the need to dismantle systemic racism in the sciences and build a future that includes a diversified science community. The course is based on current peer-reviewed literature, current events, and societal issues. The student will participate in two outreach initiatives that require on-site visits or virtual synchronous meetings.
