MIP 1200 Music Production Fundamentals 3.0 Credits
This course develops practical recording competency through hands-on application of industry-standard production processes. Through individual and collaborative projects, students experience the full workflow from initial tracking to final mastering while learning microphone techniques, studio acoustics, and signal-processing fundamentals. Topics include digital audio workstation operation, session management, and professional delivery standards for high-resolution audio. Students gain an understanding of project budgets and industry requirements. Competency is demonstrated through the submission of properly organized session files and reflective self-evaluations that analyze technical and creative decisions.
