MIP 2220 Synthesis and Sampling 3.0 Credits

This course explores electronic sound design through synthesis and sampling techniques fundamental to contemporary music production. Students learn subtractive, additive, FM, and wavetable synthesis while developing proficiency with hardware and software synthesizers. Topics include oscillator design, filter types, envelope shaping, modulation routing, and sample manipulation. Through sound design projects, students develop a technical understanding of synthesis parameters while creating original sounds for various production contexts. The course emphasizes both theoretical foundations and practical creative application.
