MIP 3120 Analog Recording 3.0 Credits
This course examines analog recording technologies, techniques, and aesthetic principles through hands-on experience with tape machines, analog consoles, and outboard processing equipment. Students explore tape recording workflows and the sonic characteristics that define analog audio production. Topics include tape machine operation and alignment, analog console signal flow and hybrid analog-digital workflows. Through recording projects utilizing analog equipment, students gain historical perspective while developing technical skills relevant to contemporary production that incorporates analog processing.
