MIS 3343 Data and Database Management 3.0 Credits

Data have become strategic assets for most organizations. Databases, as an important part of information systems, store, manipulate, and retrieve data in nearly every type of organization. Effectively using and managing organizational data assets is important for all businesses. This course will introduce the key tasks of effective management of data and databases through lectures, hands-on exercises and projects. Students will study the essential techniques and methods for analyzing requirements for business data, designing and implementing relational databases. Students will develop SQL language skills that are widely applied in processing and analyzing data. Furthermore, students will learn about frameworks and technologies for data warehousing, data analytics, big data, and data quality management.
