MIS 3461 Project Management for Information Systems 3.0 Credits
Understanding project management is vital for aligning technology initiatives with business goals and objectives. In this course, students learn fundamentals and some advanced principles of project management, and gain proficiency with tools that help planning and management of projects. The course is structured around the key phases of a project lifecycle – initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing out a project. It also pays specific attention to the key project management knowledge areas: scope, time, cost, quality, risk, human resources, communication, procurement, stakeholder, and integration, as defined in PMI’s Project Management Body of Knowledge. Students also learn about agile project management, international project management, and applications of AI within the discipline.
