MIS 6170 Designing Intelligent Work: AI, Agents, and Organizational Systems 1.5 Credit
This course examines how organizations redesign work in the age of AI. It explores how decisions, tasks, and workflows are structured when humans and AI agents operate together. Students will learn to deconstruct business processes into decision systems, identify where AI agents can create value, and design coordinated workflows that integrate human judgment with machine execution. The course introduces principles of agentic AI, decision rights, and system orchestration, with an emphasis on practical application. In addition to system design, students examine the organizational challenges of implementation, including governance, accountability, culture, and the changing role of people in AI-enabled environments.
