MSE 5007 Ceramics 3.0 Credits
This course deals with the structure and bonding of ceramics. The fundamental role of point defects on electric and diffusional properties is discussed. Sintering, both solid and liquid phase, is explored. What affects strength, creep, subcritical crack growth and fatigue of ceramics is elucidated. Thermal properties and thermal shock are discussed. Glasses and their properties are examined.
