MTED 363 Middle Years Mathematics Methods (4-8) 1.5 Credit

This course focuses on critical knowledge and skills for teaching mathematics in middle years, including learning theories and psychology in mathematics education. The major goal is to provide prospective middle school teachers the opportunity to develop concepts, skills, and pedagogical procedures for effective teaching of mathematics. Additionally, we will consider important social and cultural aspects of teaching math that impact student learning, as well as reflect on how teaching mathematics can be made exciting, intriguing, and understandable for students. This course has a Stage 1-2 field component, successful completion of the field component is required for recommendation for certification.
