NFS 1000 Nutrition, Foods and Health 3.0 Credits
This course introduces the scientific foundations of human nutrition and its application to everyday health. Topics include the six essential nutrients, their functions in the body, principles of digestion and metabolism and the role of food choices in promoting well-being and preventing diseases. Students will analyze their own dietary intake and apply evidence-based nutrition concepts to evaluate and improve personal health practices. This course fulfills a science requirement for non-majors and serves as a foundational course for the Nutrition Minor.
