NUAN 702 Nurse Anesthesia Clinical Practicum I 2.0 Credits

The first nurse anesthesia clinical practicum course focuses on the fundamental principles to deliver safe care across the peri-anesthesia continuum. With preceptor guidance, the nurse anesthesia resident develops novice skills needed to safely administer anesthesia for a variety of surgical and/or diagnostic procedures. The development of anesthesia care plans tailored to the patient’s medical, surgical and cultural needs, coupled with preceptor collaboration, provides the foundation for the nurse anesthesia resident to apply theoretical concepts to clinical practice. Satisfactory evaluation of the nurse anesthesia resident’s clinical performance fosters clinical progression. This course is also complemented by clinical case presentations and simulation.
