NUAN 710 Nurse Anesthesia Practice for Special Patient Populations III 4.0 Credits

This is the third in a series of five principles of nurse anesthesia practice for special patient populations courses. This course critically examines the physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and anesthetic management for the vascular, thoracic, and cardiac patient populations. Common surgical and diagnostic procedures are also discussed. Students apply theoretical knowledge and evidence-based principles to deliver safe, culturally competent perianesthesia care for this special patient population. The didactic course is enhanced with a cadaver lab and simulation to facilitate insertion of invasive hemodynamic catheters.
