NUAN 712 Nurse Anesthesia Clinical Practicum IV 3.0 Credits

This clinical course builds upon the knowledge and skills developed in the clinical practicum I-III courses. In clinical practicum IV, the nurse anesthesia resident has the opportunity to administer anesthesia to patients with significant co-morbidities or those undergoing more complex surgical procedures. The nurse anesthesia resident may also administer regional anesthesia and insert invasive lines. Utilizing increasing critical thinking and decision-making skills, the nurse anesthesia resident integrates evidence based findings and collaborates with preceptors to deliver culturally competent care across the lifespan. Specialty anesthesia rotations promote the development of psychometric skills and foster the integration of scientific theory to deliver anesthesia for these patient populations.
