NUAN 8508 Nurse Anesthesia Practice Principles II 3.0 Credits
This course examines the anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology of regional anesthesia. A focus on various regional anesthesia techniques as a primary anesthetic and as an adjunct to manage perioperative pain is emphasized. In the simulation setting, novice psychometric skills are cultivated to support the safe administration of regional anesthesia across the perianesthesia continuum. An overview of radiologic and diagnostic imaging critical to anesthesia practice is also incorporated. The lecture content is enhanced with one simulation lab experience which focuses on peripheral nerve blocks to reinforce the application of key concepts presented in the didactic content.
