NUAN 8592 Clinical Practicum II 3.0 Credits
Nurse Anesthesia Clinical Practicum II builds upon the clinical knowledge and foundational concepts developed in Nurse Anesthesia Clinical Practicum I to promote novice critical thinking and decision-making skills during the administration of care across the perianesthesia continuum. As didactic knowledge and clinical competency increase, nurse anesthesia residents (NARs) may also participate in the anesthesia management of patients undergoing more complex procedures. Nurse anesthesia residents’ development of anesthesia care plans tailored to the patient’s medical, surgical and cultural needs coupled with preceptor guidance, provide the foundation to apply theoretical concepts to clinical practice. Satisfactory evaluation of the nurse anesthesia resident's clinical performance fosters clinical progression.
