NUAN 9212 Nurse Anesthesia for Special Patient Populations III 3.0 Credits

This is the final course in a series of three nurse anesthesia practice courses for special patient populations. This course combines advanced physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and evidence-based anesthesia management for patients undergoing hepatic and renal procedures, as well as for those with hematologic, endocrine, and oncologic disease states. Students examine the theoretical foundations and perianesthetic management considerations for robotic, otolaryngologic (ENT), ophthalmic, orthopedic, and transplant procedures. Emphasis is placed on clinical decision-making, risk stratification, and individualized anesthetic planning for complex patients. A difficult airway workshop provides hands-on experience with advanced airway devices and techniques.
