NUAN 9314 Professional Aspects of Nurse Anesthesia Practice and Crisis Management 3.0 Credits
Professional development and transition into practice to the role of an advanced practice registered nurse is the focus of this doctoral course. The students will have an opportunity to develop a curriculum vitae, meet with potential employers at the Nurse Anesthesia Career Day, discuss ethical concerns of advanced practice nursing and patient care, and learn about the business of anesthesia. This course also focuses on the key components to enhance identification and management of adverse clinical situations to improve response to crisis situations. The importance of intraprofessional communication and the use of cognitive aids will be emphasized. Students will also participate in a pre-brief and debriefing session to identify the thought-processes influencing decision-making behaviors.
