NUAN 9496 Clinical Practicum VI 4.0 Credits
In this sixth nurse anesthesia clinical practicum course, NARs integrate scientific principles and best evidence to deliver safe, culturally competent perianesthesia care across the lifespan. Utilizing interprofessional communication, increasing critical thinking and decision-making skills, NARs provide care to a variety of patients undergoing more complex elective or emergency surgical procedures. Specialty rotations foster the development of knowledge and competencies to administer regional anesthesia, insert invasive pressure monitoring catheters, provide advanced airway management and deliver anesthesia for the obstetrical, pediatric, neurosurgical or cardiac patient. Satisfactory evaluation of the NAR’s clinical performance fosters clinical progression. This course is also complemented by simulation.
