NUPR 531 Evidence-Based Practice: Processes, Structures and Impact 3.0 Credits

This course provides the student with the content expertise necessary to begin a trajectory of acquiring the skills and critical understanding needed for evidence-based practice, particularly as a developing advanced practice registered nurse. Clinical/practice questions are posed using problem, intervention, comparison, outcomes and time (PICOT) structures. Search construction strategies and web-based/data-based tools designed to retrieve published, peer-reviewed science as well as gray literature are addressed. The course offers students the foundation needed for making decisions about the applicability of research and professional work-products to nursing practice and to collaborative efforts with interprofessional colleagues.
