NURS 6001 Advanced Pathophysiology for Advanced Nursing Practice 3.0 Credits
Building on a foundation of normal physiology, this course explores, across the lifespan, the basic mechanisms involved in diseases of the major organ systems. The major disturbances of normal physiology that serve as the foundation to both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities are explored. Students will examine common human pathophysiological conditions and syndromes, analyzing resultant signs and symptoms with which patients commonly present for care. Synthesis of concepts enhances the ability to diagnose and manage both acute and chronic complex conditions, as well as abnormalities in growth and development. Through case studies and critical analysis, students will deepen their understanding of pathophysiological processes and their clinical applications.
