OP 6010 Lower Limb Orthotics Practice 7.0 Credits

This course examines the principles, practices, and management of lower limb orthotics. It addresses orthotic intervention for the lower limb, including the foot, ankle, knee, hip, pelvis, and trunk. Major topics include foot orthoses, ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs), knee orthoses (KOs), knee-ankle-foot orthoses (KAFOs), and hip-knee-ankle-foot orthoses (HKAFOs). Emphasis is placed on patient evaluation, fit and function assessment, and orthotic management for pediatric and adult populations. Technical content includes fabrication methods, digital workflows, and CAD/CAM applications. Orthotic management of fractures is also covered. The course incorporates consideration of social structures shaping patient experiences and highlights their impact on care delivery.
