OPT 7340 Anterior Segment Disease 1 1.5 Credit

This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of disorders affecting the anterior segment, focusing on epidemiology, etiology, pathological mechanisms, diagnosis, laboratory studies, treatment, and management of conditions that impact the orbit, eyelids/lashes, and conjunctiva. The disease processes affecting the anterior segment will be emphasized, including degeneration, infection, inflammation, injury, and neoplasia. The course will build upon the knowledge gained in ocular anatomy and physiology, histology, pathology, immunology, microbiology, and biochemistry, with a focus on conditions observed in clinical practice.
