OPT 7341 Anterior Segment Disease 2 2.5 Credits
This course provides you with an understanding of epidemiology, etiology, pathological mechanisms, diagnosis, laboratory studies, treatment, and management of conditions affecting the episcleral layer, sclera, cornea, anterior uvea, and crystalline lens. Additionally, this course will cover the surgical management of disorders affecting the crystalline lens and cornea in depth. The disease processes affecting the anterior segment will be emphasized, including degeneration, infection, inflammation, injury, and neoplasia. The course will build on the knowledge gained in ocular anatomy and physiology, histology, pathology, immunology, microbiology, and biochemistry, with a focus on conditions observed in clinical practice.
