OPT 8636 Advanced Clinical Skills 1.0 Credit
This course will focus on the theory and clinical application of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic clinical skills in optometric medicine. The skills reviewed in this portion of the course include dry eye evaluation, interpretation of diagnostic imaging of OCT, photography, auto-fluorescence, and ultrasound. In preparation for the NBEO Part III Clinical Skills examination and the Laser and Minor Surgical Procedures Course, the students will review the following skills: biomicroscopy, 4-mirror gonioscopy, Goldmann tonometry, binocular indirect ophthalmoscopy and 90 D funduscopy through a mock NBEO examination. Gonioscopy review will reinforce the anterior chamber angle for gonioscopic laser surgery.
