PAS 5009 Community Health 1.0 Credit
This course is designed to integrate aspects of health that impact individuals and the communities in which they live that fall outside the scope of physical medicine. Students will explore the roles of public health, social and behavioral sciences, social determinants of health, socioeconomics, and cultural considerations integral to the provision of quality, patient-centered medical care. Additionally, students will address course content related to vulnerable populations, preventive health, effective and appropriate patient communication, and medical ethics. By integrating these topics, students will be better prepared to interact with and provide holistic medical care to patients from a variety of backgrounds and the broader community. Hybrid, Lecture.
