PAS 5901 Transition to Practice 2.0 Credits
This multi-semester course is designed to prepare the second year PA student to make the transition from student to qualified clinician. Covered topics include a medical ethics review, NCCPA certification and recertification, ongoing CME requirements, licensure and credentialing, developing a professional resume, interview preparation, contract negotiation, medical fraud, malpractice, substantiated documentation, and coding and billing. Clinical skills review and standardized patient encounters occur. Child abuse recognition and response training, and opioid training to recognize prescription drug abuse and impaired professionals, will be provided. Additionally, there will be a focused review of medical content in preparation for the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination. Hybrid, Lecture/Lab.
