PBHL 1050 Community Health and Health Equity 3.0 Credits
This course provides an introduction to community health in the United States through a social justice and health equity lens. Building on foundational public health concepts, students will examine how health and well-being are patterned across populations and communities and how determinants of health, including social, economic, environmental, behavioral, and structural factors, shape inequities and disparities. Students will apply public health and social science perspectives to analyze contemporary community health issues, explore community-engaged approaches to research and action, and consider the roles of policy, advocacy, and public health systems in improving population health.
