PBHL 5000 Public Health Foundations 3.0 Credits
This course is a multi-disciplinary introduction to the theory and knowledge required for the practice of public health. This course covers the history of public health along with the major biologic, environmental and social determinants of a population’s health, the burden of disease in populations, the effects of globalization on populations’ health and the One Health perspective on health. Understanding these important knowledge areas will enable students to use evidence-based knowledge to advance public health policies. This course will be valuable and engaging for students from all disciplines with an interest in the biological, environmental, and social factors that influence population health and inform policy.
