PBHL 510 Public Health Foundations and Systems I 4.0 Credits
This 4-credit course is part 1 of a two-quarter, multi-disciplinary introduction to the theory and practice of public health. Students will consider the breadth of the public health mission and the history and values that shape the public health response to societal health problems. This course covers the major social and environmental determinants of a population's health, the burden of disease in populations, development and structure of the public health and health care systems, and public health law and ethics. The course uses historical and current examples to illuminate problem-solving principles and practice in public health.
